Article Summary

The Angle Tool is commonly used on Plans to measure a roof pitch or security camera field of view.

Drawing Angles

  1. Click Shape Tools
  2. Click Angle Tool
  3. Click to start Angle
  4. Move cursor to create the first arm, then click to create the Angle point
    Length of first arm is displayed
    Hold SHIFT to lock the arm/s to 15º increments
  5. Move cursor to create the second arm, then click to complete Angle
    The length of second arm is not displayed
  6. Repeat for additional Angles
  7. Click Done
💡 Shortcut

To remove a point hold CTRL/Command ⌘ and press Z

Display Options

Customise the Angle display with Show Angle Label and / or Use Wedge Mode

Show Angle Label

  1. Press ESC to enter Select mode
    Zoom in on the Angle to select
  2. Select the Angle on the Plan
  3. Click Settings
  4. Select Show Angle Label
    Displays the Angle value on the Plan
    Line Colour determines the Font Colour.
  5. Click Save

Use Wedge Mode

  1. Press ESC to enter Select mode
    Zoom in on the Angle to select
  2. Select the Angle on the Plan
  3. Click Settings
  4. Select Use Wedge Mode
    Adds a Fill Colour to the Angle extending to the shortest arm length
  5. Click Save
📝Wedge Mode displays the Wedge based on equal arm lengths

This will be taken from the shortest arm of the Angle

Editing Angles

  1. Press ESC to enter Select mode
    Zoom in on the Angle to select
  2. Select the Angle on the Plan
    • To move: Click, hold and drag
      To move several items at once, use the Select Tool
    • To change Angle or resize arms: Click, hold and drag the blue square boxes
      Hold SHIFT to lock the arm/s to 15º increments
    • To rotate: Click, hold and drag the blue dot rotation handle
      Hold SHIFT to lock the rotation to 45º angles
  3. Click Actions to:
  4. Click Settings to edit the Angle style
    Change the Line Colour, Line Opacity, Line Width, Text Size, Show Angle Label, Use Wedge Mode, Fill Colour, Fill Opacity, Line Style
  5. Click Save
    To Cancel the changes click Cancel
💡 To restore Deleted Angles
  • Hold CTRL/Command ⌘ and press Z or
  • Click Undo before leaving the Plan

FAQs

Q. Can the Angle Tool create Areas?
A. No. The Angle Tool is an Annotation Tool only. It will not add quantities to Measurements or Stages.
